The alien derelict which would later be rebuilt and called the Macross, first
crashed on an island in the Pacific in the midst of a Global Civil War. Its arrival signalled the
end of conflict, and led to the unification of the world under the United Earth Government. The
SDF-1 Macross would be the flagship and centrepiece of the Robotech Defense Force, an army devoted
to defending the Earth from the new alien threat. When the Zentraedi arrived during its launching
ceremony in 2010, they came in much greater numbers than previously speculated. Over the next several
years the Macross would misjump to Pluto, and begin a long journey back to Earth under the constant
attack of the alien warfleet. Thier ultimate aim was to capture the SDF-1, but as the conflict
continued the culture of Earth pervaded the sterile military atmosphere of the alien fleet and threw
them into confusion. The main alien fleet eventually joined forces against their Supreme Commander
for thier own survival, and the SDF-1 led the counter-attack which destroyed the alien command centre.
The Earth was devastated, and the Macross and its civilian refugees led the road to rebuilding in
co-operation with the new alien population. In 2014, the Macross and its sister ship the Odyssey was
destroyed by a malcontent-Zentraedi attack led by Khyron.
