Following the discovery of mecha onboard the SDF-1, Earth militaries began
to mimic their design and develop anthromorphic combat mecha of their own to supplement their
conventional forces. At the core of this new breed of combat machine was Tomawhawk Main
Battle Robot. Heavily armoured, the Destroid mounted a pair of heavy particle beam cannons,
far stronger than what would later be exhibit on the Regult Battlepods, these weapons were
deadly effective against both enemy mecha and ships. In addition, the Tomahawk's side torsos
could open up and unleash a barrage of deadly short-ranged missiles. In combat experience,
it proved to be an effective core to any destroid unit and was invaluable in defending the SDF-1.
The Tomahawk began to be phased out as new REF Destroids were introduced, and the Southern Cross
took favour to Veritech Hover Tanks and light Battloids as their main ground combatants.
